Eilean Donan Castle
Eilean Donan Castle is situated in Loch Duich near Dornie about 8 miles from Kyle of Lochalsh on the A87 road on the west coast of Scotland near the Isle of Skye. Loch Long and Loch Alsh are close by. The castle can easily be reached on a day trip from Inverness or Fort William either by car or using the coach service to/from Skye.
Aonach Eagach and Ben Nevis
The Aonach Eagach ridge is one of the most famous hillwalking challenges in Scotland; feared by some, boasted about by others and occasionally described as epic by those who dare in winter. This linear ridge runs along the northerly side of Glencoe (which is more or less east-west). On the southerly side is the Bidean range including the famous "three sisters".
Edinburgh Castle
Every visitor - particularly those on a restricted itinerary - should visit the Castle, not only because of the historical interest of this remarkable fortress and former royal residence, but because it offers such splendid panoramic views of the city. It is from these battlements, for example, that the traveller immediately appreciates the dramatic topography of Edinburgh, situated between sea and hills.
Blair Castle
The Castle has been a magnet to visitors for generations. One or two have been turned away with a bucket of boiling oil or a volley of musket fire. Most have been warmly welcomed. Blair was one of the first private houses in Scotland to be opened to the public. Today, it welcomes more visitors than any other.
Glasgow
Glasgow is one of the liveliest and most cosmopolitan destinations in Europe. The city has been reborn as a centre of style and vitality set against a backdrop of outstanding Victorian architecture. Glasgow boasts world famous art collections, the best shopping in the United Kingdom outside London, and the most vibrant nightlife in Scotland.
Kilchurn Castle
Kilchurn Castle was built in about 1450 by Sir Colin Campbell, first Lord of Glenorchy, and it started life as a five storey tower house with a courtyard defended by an outer wall. By about 1500 an additional range and a hall had been added to the south side of the castle. Further buildings went up during the 1500s and 1600s.
